Inter-University Friendly Debate Competition at NUB

Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) recently hosted an inter-university friendly debate competition organized by the NUB Central Debate and Public Speaking Club. The event was held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the NUB campus in a cordial and intellectually engaging atmosphere.

A three-member team from the Government Titumir College Debating Club, including its Debate Secretary, participated in the competition. The debate was conducted under the Asian Parliamentary debate format, where the Government Titumir College Debating Club represented the Government side, while the NUB Central Debate and Public Speaking Club participated as the Opposition.

The primary objective of the event was to foster mutual respect, fraternity, and collaborative learning among students of different institutions. The NUB Central Debate and Public Speaking Club, which recently commenced its activities, aims to promote debate practice, encourage awareness of contemporary issues, and develop students into skilled debaters capable of competing at the national level.
Speaking about the initiative, Club President Yasin Muhammad stated that the club’s goal for 2026 is to participate in more than 15 national-level debate competitions and achieve notable success.
General Secretary Md. Abrar Hossain emphasized the importance of regular practice, noting that there is no substitute for consistent training in skill development. He added that such initiatives are essential for nurturing high-quality debaters and that the club remains committed to continuing these efforts in the future.
The friendly competition added academic value to campus life and strengthened inter-institutional cooperation in debate culture.
